Sweep is published by General Software, a trading name of Workshop Operations Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 14842982). This Refund Policy explains when and how you can request a refund for a Sweep plan. We want you to be completely happy with your purchase, which is why every Sweep plan is backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee on top of a generous free tier.
1. Our Approach
We believe you should be able to try Sweep before you commit to buying it. Sweep is free to download and free to scan everything on your Mac — you can see exactly what it would clean before paying anything.
Because the free tier is fully functional and requires no credit card, most customers know whether Sweep is right for them before they upgrade. That said, we understand that things don't always work out, and we are happy to offer refunds within the window described below.
2. Free Tier
The Sweep free tier includes:
- Access to every scan — cleanup, protection, speed, applications, clutter, and tools.
- Smart Sweep one-click run-everything.
- Detailed results, recommendations, and reclaim totals.
- A metered amount of cleanup per scan, so you can confirm Sweep does what you expect before paying.

3. Refund Eligibility
If you have purchased a Sweep plan and are not satisfied, you may request a refund within 30 days of your purchase date. To be eligible for a refund:
- Your request must be made within 30 days of the original purchase date.
- You should provide a brief explanation of why the product did not meet your expectations. This helps us improve Sweep, but is not a condition of the refund.
Refund requests made within the 30-day window will be honoured without hassle. We do not require you to demonstrate a fault or defect in the product.
4. How to Request a Refund
To request a refund, send an email to hello@general.software with the following information:
- The email address used at the time of purchase.
- Your order or transaction number (included in your purchase confirmation email).
- The Sweep plan you would like refunded (1 Mac / 5 Macs · Monthly / Yearly / Lifetime).
- Optionally, a brief note about why you are requesting a refund.
We aim to respond to all refund requests within 2 business days.
5. Refund Processing
Payments for Sweep are processed by our merchant of record, who handles refunds on our behalf. This means:
- Once we approve your request, our payment processor will issue the refund to your original payment method.
- Refunds typically take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement, depending on your bank or payment provider.
- Refunds are issued in the original currency of the transaction. The amount returned may differ slightly from what you paid due to exchange rate fluctuations, which are outside our control.
You will receive a confirmation email once your refund has been processed.
6. Exceptions
We reserve the right to decline a refund request in the following circumstances:
- Repeated refund requests — If a customer has a pattern of purchasing and then requesting refunds across multiple products or on multiple occasions, we may decline further refund requests.
- Requests outside the refund window — Refund requests made more than 30 days after the purchase date are not normally eligible. However, if you believe there are exceptional circumstances, please get in touch and we will consider your case on its merits.
- Bulk or volume purchases — Refund requests for bulk or volume licence purchases may be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to discuss.
- Abuse of the refund policy — We reserve the right to decline refunds where there is evidence of abuse, such as using the software extensively before requesting a refund, or requesting refunds as a way to obtain free access.
